Summer Connections

Traditionally, summer is a time when Renewal activities slow down due to travel and vacations. To keep the community spirit alive during this season, we’re hosting volunteer-led “Summer Connection” events that encourage community and connection while our Community Groups (CGs) are on pause. If you’re looking for ways to meet new people, these informal events are a great opportunity to connect with others.

These events are hosted by members or regular attenders of Renewal, providing a chance to engage with people outside of your Community Group while CGs take a break. Feel free to sign up for as many events as you’d like! A variety of events will be available, and if you’re interested in hosting one, please fill out this form. The events will run from June through the end of August.

June Summer Connections
June 7th - FDR SEA Market Visit hosted by Jenny Zhang

The Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park is a community of refugees and immigrant members who have called the Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Park their home since the 1980s. For 35+ years they have cultivated an open community space all their own, providing a cultural hub for social gatherings, sharing of ethnic cuisines and business opportunities through vending.

Let’s support our local, immigrant community and enjoy some delicious food, while we’re at it! We’ll be meeting at 11am on the following Saturdays: June 7th, July 12th, and August 2nd. No capacity limit.

More information will be shared after you sign up: https://forms.gle/29r35Pdu7EbBcrRe6

June 25th - Chinatown Walking Tours hosted by Jenny Zhang

Did you know? Philadelphia’s Chinatown is over 150 years old! We’ll take a walking tour of Chinatown to learn and see the rich history of the neighborhood where our congregation meets.

The walking tour should take about 1 hour. We’ll wrap up the evening with dinner and/or dessert!

Tours will be at 6:30pm on the following Wednesdays: June 25th, July 23rd, and August 27th. No capacity limit.
