Call to Worship

Minister: We join with the first witnesses rejoicing in the entrance of the Son of God Jesus Christ into our world of sin to redeem us. We join with Mary in singing:

All: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant…for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”

Minister: With Zechariah we sing:

All: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David.”

Minister: With the angels we sing:

All: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Minister: And with Simeon we sing:

All: “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” O come, let us adore Him!

SUCH AN AWESOME GOD

You call the sun to rise
And You lay it down to rest
You hold this heart of mine
And You hold my every breath

Such an awesome God
So mighty
So holy
So wonderful

So selfless
So generous
So faithful, You are

Seated in majesty
Reigning in holiness
The table is set for me
For You are the living bread

And nothing comes close to the Lord Almighty
Nothing as sweet as His love and mercy
Nothing comes close to the Lord Almighty
And nothing as sweet as Your love and mercy
Oh, nothing comes close to the Lord Almighty
Nothing as sweet as His love and mercy
Oh, nothing comes close to the Lord Almighty
Nothing as sweet as Your love and mercy
There’s nothing sweeter, sweeter than Your love

Jesus, the Son of God
Hung on a Cross to die
But not even death itself
Could hold You down, for You rose to life

O COME ALL YOU UNFAITHFUL

O come, all you unfaithful
Come, weak and unstable
Come, know you are not alone

O come, barren and waiting ones
Weary of praying, come
See what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

O come, bitter and broken
Come with fears unspoken
Come, taste of His perfect love

O come, guilty and hiding ones
There is no need to run
See what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

He’s the Lamb who was given
Slain for our pardon
His promise is peace
For those who believe
He’s the Lamb who was given
Slain for our pardon
His promise is peace
For those who believe

So come, though you have nothing
Come, He is the offering
Come, see what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you
Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF FAITH

Minister: This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:5-8)

All: O God of grace and truth, in Jesus Christ You came among us as light shining in the darkness. Your holy light has exposed the deep darkness of our hearts, so that we may see ourselves for who we really are and desperately come to You for salvation. But we confess that we have not fully welcomed the light or trusted Your grace. We hide from You and others in guilt and shame.

All: But our sin is too heavy to carry alone. Lord, forgive us for preferring to remain in the dark rather than experience the freedom of coming into the light. Your light is for the healing of our souls! So help us to bring all our sin into the light, that we may receive the fullness of Your peace and walk in the truth of Christ our Lord. In his name we pray. Amen.

 OFFERING PRAYER

All: Almighty God, whose loving hand has given us all that we have: grant us grace that we may honor you with our money and possessions. May we be faithful stewards and generous givers of that which you have given us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

MY LIVING HOPE

How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation, I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished, the end is written
Jesus Christ, my living hope
You’re my living hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior, I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope!
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free

Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
And out of silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me!
Jesus, Yours is the victory!

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope!

BLESSED ASSURANCE

All my attempts to be satisfied were vain and empty
Until the moment You rescued me and Your love filled me
My soul sings, now my soul sings

What blessed assurance
I’ve found in You, I’ve found in You
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
How steadfast Your strong hand
Is keeping me, is keeping me
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
O blessed assurance

No other love that I’ve ever known compares to You, God
No other love that I’ve ever found has done what You’ve done
My soul sings, now my soul sings

What blessed assurance
I’ve found in You, I’ve found in You
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
How steadfast Your strong hand
Is keeping me, is keeping me
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
O blessed assurance

Ever my anchor, ever my strength
Ever my portion, and all I need
Ever my healing, ever my hope
Ever the truth that leads me home
That leads me home

What blessed assurance
I’ve found in You, I’ve found in You
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
How steadfast Your strong hand
Is keeping me, is keeping me
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
Oh, what blessed assurance
I’ve found in You, I’ve found in You
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
How steadfast Your strong hand
Is keeping me, is keeping me
I won’t be shaken, I will not be moved
O blessed assurance
