Summer Connections
We will have multiple small community gatherings this summer and we are calling them Summer Connections. If you’re looking for ways to meet new people, this is a fun way to connect with each other in more informal ways. They are run by members or regular attenders of Renewal and are a great way to connect with people outside of your Community Group (CG) while CG’s take a break. Sign up for as many events as you like!

Center City Summer Connections
PHILADELPHIA CHINATOWN WALKING TOURS – LED BY JENNY & KATIE
Dates/Time: 7/24 at 6:30pm and 8/21 at 6:30pm
Did you know? Philadelphia’s Chinatown is over 150 years old! Join us for a walking tour of Chinatown to learn and see the rich history of the neighborhood where our congregation worships. Afterwards, we’ll take some time to talk about the proposed basketball arena threatening Chinatown. The walking tour should take about 1 hour. We’ll wrap up the evening with dinner and/or dessert!

SOUTHEAST ASIAN MARKET – LED BY JENNY
Date/Time: 8/3 at 10am
Location: Southeast Asian Market at FDR Park
The Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park is a community of refugees and immigrant members who have called the Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Park their home since the 1980’s. For 35+ years they have cultivated an open community space all their own, providing a cultural hub for social gatherings, sharing of ethnic cuisines and business opportunities through vending. Let’s support our local, immigrant community! PLEASE BRING CASH.
Rock Climbing at Movement Callowhill - Led by Jeff and Elsa
Whether first time rock climber or experienced veteran, come enjoy a time of community and fellowship as we put our minds and body to the test! Some of us at Renewal regularly go on Sundays, usually after lunch around 2 pm. If you are interested, please provide your information and we can coordinate when to have you (may be able to get you in for free depending on availability of guest passes)! Dress in regular gym clothes and shoes.

Women's Summer Bible Study - Led by Clara
We meet biweekly on Mondays 7:30pm at Chinatown. The dates for July are: July 1, 15, 29.
The purpose is to be space that’s:
1. intentional with fellowship grounded in the Word with fellow women
2. beginner-friendly and supportive for both people leading and people attending

Pub Theology - Led by Hansoo
Do you like discussing interesting contemporary issues?
Do you like to drink beer?
What if you could do both with other Christians in an open yet safe environment?
Join me for Pub Theology where we will discuss specific contemporary issues and what the Bible has to say about them while enjoying some beer (or other beverages). This would also be a great opportunity to invite non-believing friends who might be interested in hearing or engaging with what the Bible has to say about topics they are interested in.

Running Through Philly - Led by Kenji
Thank you for your interest in running with the Renewal family. Our first running session for the summer will be on July 19th at 6 PM. However, more sessions will come as we gauge the interest from the first session and the form as well. Future sessions will be planned through a Facebook group chat and an email group that every perspective runner will be invited to. Come enjoy a causal evening making mini flower bouquets to give to someone you’re thankful for (e.g. CG leader, coworker, friend, parents, church member, etc.)! No flower arranging experience necessary! Planned date is 8/1/2024 around 6:30 pm in Chinatown area.
