Announcements
- Update about the church building – During the micro-burst in July, a large branch knocked masonry loose from the west tower. Most of it hit the sidewalk, but one piece crashed on the roof and cracked a rafter. Praise God, no one was hurt, the main trusses weren’t damaged, and nothing fell all the way to the sanctuary floor. On a structural engineer’s advice, a temporary support beam was placed. That corner of the sanctuary will stay off limits for now, but we can otherwise gather in the sanctuary without safety concerns. Repairs will take time and money. We will share more details on what we will need to do to care for this building, but for now, please pray for the work ahead.
- Fellowship & Missionary Lunch for L Family – We’ll be having a special Fellowship Lunch with one of the missionary families we support, the L family TODAY after service. The L Family has faithfully served in South Asia for the past 14 years. After the service, we’ll have Fellowship lunch outside at 12:15 PM, followed by a time upstairs to hear more about their lives and ministry. We’d love for you to join us for lunch and this special opportunity to hear from the L Family.
- Theology 101 – Our Theology 101 class covers the basics of the Christian faith, while also giving us an opportunity to take a deeper dive into Reformed theology and what we believe. This class is open to everyone, and we especially encourage those who are going through our Membership Class to join us. It’s a great way to grow in your understanding of the faith and learn more about what we believe as a church. Our next Theology 101 class will be next week on Sunday, October 4th, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the basement. Sign up here!
- Children’s Ministry Parent Teacher Gathering –Parents are invited to join us for a Children’s Ministry Parent-Teacher Gathering next Sunday, October 4, at 9:15am upstairs on the 2nd floor. Enjoy a light breakfast, hear updates about our Children’s Ministry, meet your children’s teachers, and spend some time praying together.
- Community Groups – As we continue through the Fall season and reflect on what it means to be disciples of Jesus as a church, we want to highlight the important role our Community Groups play in our life together. Our Community Groups, or “CGs” as we call them, serve as both a way to build community within our church family and a practical way for us to grow together as followers of Jesus. - Hiring Part-Time Administrator – If you are interested or know of someone who would be interested in this part-time administrator role, please review the job description on our website and feel free to reach out to our Executive Director: euniceko@renewalchurch.org.
- Run/Walk Club– If you would like to run or walk with others one Saturday a month, enjoy the good weather and build a rhythm of communal life with others, we encourage you to fill out this interest form!
- Opportunities to Serve & Care for our Church & Community- In this transitional season, we have an opportunity to thoughtfully reexamine both what we do and how we do it. We are eager to look afresh at our practices, consider meaningful improvements, and reflect on how our structures are serving our members. Here are four ways for members to support the Session, Women’s Council, and Diaconate: Felt Needs, Prayer Team/Relational Engagement, Community Engagement, Building. If interested in serving in any of these ways, please fill out this form
- 20th Anniversary Celebration Save the Date – Renewal is celebrating its 20th anniversary this November! Join us for a special 20th Anniversary Gathering on November 6–7. On Friday evening, we’ll have a panel discussion on intercultural journeys featuring Sue Baker and Joyce Koo Dalrymple. On Saturday, Isaac will share a presentation on the history of Renewal, followed by a Cultural History Workshop led by Micah 6:8. On Sunday, November 8, we’ll celebrate with a special 20th Anniversary Celebration service. We’ll also have a special service with founding pastor Paul Kim on November 22. Whether you’re a current member, former attendee, or have been part of Renewal’s story over the years, we’d love to celebrate with you. Pretzel Pickup Help:
We are in need of volunteers who are willing to pick up pretzels for our after service fellowship snack. All costs will be reimbursed. If you are able to serve our congregation in this way, please sign up here.

Welcoming Team
The Welcoming Team is in need of volunteers! If you are looking for a way to serve at Renewal, consider welcoming! All ages, personalities and stages of life participate. Multimedia Team
Our Multimedia Team plays a vital role in supporting worship by running slides and videos each week. This behind-the-scenes ministry is an important way to serve and help our church engage fully in worship. We are looking for volunteers to join the team—no experience is needed, and training will be provided. Please contact: wpmultimedia@renewalchurch.org

West Philly Playgroup
A neighborhood playgroup will be moving their playgroup to Renewal’s building on the 1st + 3rd Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 am. If you would like to join this playgroup or simply meet other neighborhood families, please contact Kyu at kyuboemlee@renewalchurch.org.
Scripture Reading
We have members of our church read scripture for us each Sunday. Our rotation currently means each volunteer would read 2-3 times per year. If you are interested in reading for us please sign up here
Praise Team & Sound
We are in need of volunteers to join the West Philly praise team and sound. If you are interested, please reach out to worship@renewalchurch.org
DIACONATE CARE
If you have any felt needs (physical or spiritual), please contact the Renewal Diaconate (care@renewalchurch.org). One of our deacons or deaconesses will schedule a time to meet with you.
- We look to offer the compassion and love of Christ as we meet and pray with you.
- We will walk with you through a process that our Diaconate team has made to see how we can best help you.
- We serve alongside the community of members of Renewal and our leadership team of pastors and elders.
